Black Prayers - Obi Bora (Vinyle)

Obinna Igwe, dit Obi Bora, est un artiste au parcours hors normes, et au
début de carrière aussi fulgurant que furent longues et douloureuses les années qui
ont précédé son entrée dans le paysage musical. Depuis 10 ans, il vit en Europe, de
camps en squats, de pays en pays, au rythme des expulsions.

Dans son errance, il écrit et enregistre des chansons sur un petit ordinateur dont il
ne se sépare jamais. Prières du XXIème siècles, ses titres d’une liberté folle
mélangent rap, soul, électro, afro pop…

Echapper à une identité aussi fantomatique, aussi discriminante que celle de migrant est la raison d’être de Black Prayers, « prières noires » que le musicien lyonnais Cédric de La Chapelle a aidé à formuler dans une turbulente et fertile confluence où s’éprennent rap, électro et afro beat, où se remémorent, pour s’en libérer, les traumas du long, éreintant périple accompli, où s’expriment les espoirs du rescapé.

Escaping from an identity as ghostly and discriminating as that of a migrant is the purpose of “Black Prayers”, an album that Lyon musician Cédric de La Chapelle helped to formulate in a turbulent and fertile confluence where rap, electro and Afro beat come together, where the traumas of the long, arduous journey are recalled in order to free oneself, where the hopes of the survivor come to life.
